Master Gu is a real treat for those fans of traditional martial arts. He was born in Henan in 1946 into a martial arts family and from the age of 13 years old learned this style of Hard Qi Gong from his father. Later on when moving to Yunnan at just over 20years old he met and started studying with Yunnan’s best Hard Qi Gong and the systems most famous practitioner, Master Tang Rei Lin. Master Gu doesn’t openly teach his knowledge or look for students but in the traditional way has only a handful of students who he is passing his art onto. He has kindly agreed to teach his system with us due to his love of the style and his hopes that Western people be given the chance to find and experience some of China’s real kung fu.
Master Gu is a very well known and highly respected Master in Yunnan and his list of awards is too numerous to list completely here. Only some of his achievements are as follows: Selected to represent Yunnan in the first two years of the Chinese National Traditional Martial Arts Committee meetings held in Beijing; Participated in numerous Hard Qi Gong shows around China and Asia including being invited to Thailand to use his Qi for healing purposes. Also, at this time he was certified by the Yunnan Scientific Association as a legal Qi Gong Doctor. This allows him to work in Yunnan for the purposes of healing people with Qi; Invited to attend the Elite Yunnan Qi Gong Association meetings which are restricted to very few select members; Named Vice President of the Qi Gong Hospital in Kunming, Yunnan; Invited to join Kunming Qi Gong Association and named a consultant to Yunnan Martial Arts Association.
The style Jing Hong Qi Gong itself was founded in the Mao Mountains by a Daoist named Zi Yang during the Ming Dynasty/Qing Dynasty period. It was passed on to a Ren HuaPing, then from him to his son Ren ChangQing. Ren ChangQing is a very famous martial artist who has been named as one of China’s TaiBao practitioners, an honour given to only 13 other people. Ren ChangQing was Master Tang ReiLin’s teacher.
The principles of the system are that all your potential energy can be gathered into a small area to withstand blows, cuts or pressure. Its characteristic is that it is easy to learn (although hard work and time consuming to train) and that stillness and movement are joined together. It can develop Qi in a short period of time and ensures a great level of health for those who practise it.
Training methods are too numerous once again to list but the very basics of the system include the following;
Note: This class is not suitable for most visitors and it is only available to those guests who have been accepted onto the Special Elite Martial Training programme due to its intensive training regime and highly martial application and study aspects.
